Great for Students,
by CarolinaGirl, 2010-09-06
I am a college student and just recently bought my first mac. I hadn't heard anything but bad things about microsoft office for mac 2008, but I didn't want to have to go through the trouble of learning a new word processing program right before I started school, so I went ahead and ordered it. I absolutely LOVE it and the price was fantastic! It does everything I need, and then some. In my opinion it's better than microsoft office 2007 for pc. So, if your not sure about getting it or not, then order it, you won't regret it.
Had a little issues... overall good,

I bought the product from Amazon because of the limited time offer to get a free upgrade when they release the next version (Microsoft for mac 2011). The registration for the upgrade was a breeze. However, installation was a mess because the first product code would not work when I loaded it. It took 4 emails until Microsoft could help me fix the problem (reload using the second product code). On a positive note, the product is great (much better than iworks), the support staff at Microsoft is wonderful, deal with the upgrade, and I received the product quickly. On the negative side, Microsoft told me that a few product codes were defective and the Microsoft website was as helpful as trying to eat soup with a knife. Overall, worth the hassle.
Good God let's hope 2011 is better!,

I've owned Mac's since the original 128K Mac and Microsoft Products have always had integration issues in the Mac world. This version of Office is no exception. I work a lot on PC's at work, so I'm used to that environment. In the Mac version of Office, menus are not where you think they might be. Some of the most useful ones in Word and Excel are still part of the Mac menu bar, though there is another Excel or Work menu bar. Many of the formatting controls are on a separate window and in headings you would not expect. So, here's hoping (once again) that someday Microsoft creates a truly integrated Mac Office.
Not bad but could be better,

Overall, still pretty good but the older version seemed more user friendly. I liked the tab setup that the pc version had a lot more. It also seems that the mac version can be a little sluggish at times. Seeing how my mac is only about 3 months old, I have to attribute this to the software, not the computer. That being said, if I had to do it over again, I probably would have given iWork a shot instead. Back when I was primarily a pc user, I had an older copy for windows xp. I have to say I like it better than the mac version. The interface was much more visually pleasing which may not really seem like a big deal, but as a heavy office user it is something nicer to look at for extended periods. Also, I liked the layout of the pc version better as well. Using the tool palette can be a little tedious because it somehow finds a way to always get in the way.
It works!,

First of all, I got this through amazon at a great price ($109), so that made me happy. Secondly it arrived within a week which made me even happier. Thirdly, loading it to my 2005 mac was a cinch, which, you guessed it, took me to the third level of happiness. Anyway, I have already started using Word,Powerpoint and Excel and I am glad to report that they work great! So far no problems, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope that whatever bugs that were reported earlier have already been fixed.
